West Winds Motel & Cottages

Me and my boyfriend and I stayed for one night and it was great! The cottage was clean and fully stocked like a house. It was a perfect little getaway, and we were able to walk down to the water. It was a great last-minute stay, and we will be returning to try out the pool!

This is a great place to stay. The people who run it are top notch. Our cottage was clean and nice. The property was quiet and relaxing.

Extremely clean. Came here for fishing with son in law. First timers. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. Brought our boat and they even plugged us in to charge our batteries. Great place! We had the fisherman’s cottage which is the basic level. All we needed and still very happy. Other cottages were even better.

The moment we arrived at West Winds Motel and Cottages in Clayton, we knew we picked the right place to stay while visiting Thousand Islands. West Wind cottages are located along the St. Lawrence River with a beautiful view of the River from the entry to the property. We stayed in the motel type rooms there because there were no vacant cottages upon our arrival thinking that we could move to a cottage the next day when there was a vacancy, however, we enjoyed our room so much that we never changed to the cottage. The rooms were very clean and comfortable as was the bed. The bed was queen sized which was all they offered. The bathroom was a little small with only a shower but that worked for us. It was also immaculate. Clean towels were offered daily. The owner, Dean, was really nice and friendly. He took great care of the grounds showing care and pride in his business and treating us like family. He builds a nightly fire for all to enjoy and we even observed him blowing off the sidewalks for added cleanliness. He also accredited his wife for the nice little touches found on the property and in the rooms. There was a nice little 24 hour coffee room stocked and equipped with Keurig coffee, creamer cups, ice and even a wine bottle opener. All rooms and cottages have an outdoor picnic table which was convenient. There was an in ground pool which was very clean. We have great memories and pictures of our stay at West Winds. I say once again and I know I post many five star, positive reviews. That's because I only go to good affordable family run places when ever possible. West winds is no exception. Our cottage is clean, well taken care of and has everything we could need. The property is well manicured and very clean. Swimming pool is crystal clear. Barbeque at each cottage. Large clean gazebo for gathering. Horse shoes and even a bocce ball court! (When's the last time you saw a bocce court!) Also a beautiful fire pit lit every night about 7:30 pm. The owners are friendly and so nice. Seems to be a totally family run, quite clean resort that deserves to be here for generations to come.

I went on a fishing vacation with my best friend and landed on the West Winds Motel & Cottages page. It had everything we wanted including separate rooms, full kitchen, and boat storage/charging options. Initial communications with Jolene were quick and thorough. We arrived and check in was a breeze. We met Jolene and Dean H and they gave us the lay of the land. The whole property was well maintained and you can tell was kept up with a strong sense of pride. Our cottage was PERFECT! Super clean and everything we expected. I can't speak to the many amenities on site as we were pretty tired from fishing all day so it was right to bed. Each dawn and dusk we were greeted with a jaw dropping sunrise and sunset that we won't soon forget. We can't wait to come back next year. We found our "place" and it's the West Winds.

Amazing place with incredible views. We spend the weekend at the river cottage and the place was so clean and well kept. The docks are great for fishing and the view is priceless. Will definitely be back here.

We had an amazing long weekend at West Winds! The most stunning views you can imagine, everything is beautifully manicured, clean and the service was amazing. It was so peaceful and gorgeous I checked dates for our next trip up before leaving. Awesome location to bring friends and family, your boat and just enjoy the water at an incredible site. Owners do a fantastic job with everything, can't wait to be back again!
